BABY STEPS BABIES!

Our Mission
We help new parents thrive during the postpartum period by strengthening growing families with support and guidance after the arrival of a new baby.

About
Amanda Hemm
Amanda, founder of Baby Steps, is a CAPPA certified postpartum doula, trained lactation educator, and a Reiki II practitioner. With a professional, compassionate approach, she works with couples to customize support to their unique situation. Amanda has been a postpartum doula since 2014 and has worked with over 75 families. She also founded NAMMA Families, a local perinatal professional network and has an extensive knowledge of resources available to families during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond.
Amanda’s philosophy is that there are many ways to create and raise a family. Everyone is going to do things in the way that works best for them, and that is beautiful. She will support your methods and will offer evidence-based guidance as requested. Amanda values a strong community connection and will work with you to help you find your community.
Additionally, Amanda co-founded Soutiens with Sarah Douglas. Together they consult with companies about improving support for expectant employees and working parents.
Amanda lives in Maynard with her husband Justin, and kids, Anna and Lucas. She enjoys traveling “home” to Vermont, being outdoors, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Our Partnership With Specialists

Michelle Stolow, IBCLC
Michelle is one of the premier lactation consultant (IBCLC) in our area since 2002. She loves providing home visits, usually within 24-48 hours of being called, to help breastfeeding families gain confidence and overcome any difficulties. She provides unlimited follow up support by phone, text and email. Michelle and Amanda often work together to support families as they learn the ins and outs of infant feeding.

Sarah Douglas, CPD
Sarah is a postpartum doula and is a trained babywearing consultant. She helps parents take time to rest and recover, provides emotional space for parents to process their experiences and bond with their baby, and assists families in finding valuable local resources. Sarah and Amanda have very similar philosophies and work together to provide coverage for families who need extensive support, back each other up as needed, and co-teach classes.
